Definitely back to basics
The movie is an excellent addition to the series. Action packed as usual and great special effects. Kate Beckinsale just seems to get better and better. This movie was well thought out for what in my opinion is a going to be a great new few movies. I hope they follow up with this! I think that this is a good beginning for what I hope is a new trilogy in the series.
Enjoyable superhero movie
Aside from some plot holes and a too long runtime, the intense set pieces, clever twists, sharp script, and great performances make Iron Man 3 a blast. Superhero movies don't get much better.
Solid horror film
It's nothing you haven't seen before. It's not a game-changer. But it's creepy and effective, owing much of its success to the music and the disturbing images. Ethan Hawke is quite excellent here and keeps the entire film grounded when it very easily could have gone off the rails (see Insidious).
Decent film
Oblivion mixes elements and plots from all the greatest sci fi films. Some nice set pieces, good use of scenery, music and an overall well crafted production makes for a decent film. Parts of the film were excellent, but there were dull and predictable parts as well.
Horribly written, directed and acted
The movie is built on cheap scares and minimal suspense, nothing special or original here. This movie rips off Poltergeist, Close Encounters, The Shining, Signs, Fire in the Sky, and a lots of other movies - all without adding anything new to the genre...
I like it. Worth the money
I think the directors did a fantastic job of weaving these stories together, as well as capturing and sustaining interest throughout. It was long, but I didn't feel it. I emphasize my disclaimer at the top – I’m sure the book connects the storylines better – and perhaps it should have stayed a book.
A great modern science fiction drama
Moon does not contain action, or cool flashy CGI effects, it's just a story that takes place in the future, where technology is advanced and taken for granted, and it explores some interesting themes that would not be possible in the present. Sam Rockwell put an excellent performance. The soundtrack is amazing as well.
We need more movies like this!
Could not even watch the movie!
Behind in the times in upgrading to a Blu-Ray player and figured this would be a good movie to watch. I was wrong and could not get interested in this movie at all. I did give it three chances and never made it past a quarter of the way through. I just didn't get it at all.
Decent sci-fi action film
Despite all its problems like Smith being Smith, its shocking product placement and its really loose association with Asimov - I still quite like this action movie. It's a simple story with some great special effects that hold up even today.
Mediocre
For the first hour, I actually really enjoyed the film. However, at about 65 minutes it started going drastically downhill to the point where it was stupid. The CGI wasn't the worst I've seen, but it wasn't great, the scripting was dire, and the cinematography was bog standard.
Enjoyed this Star Trek
I was looking forward to this movie when it was first announced. But must say I was wondering if J.J. Abrams could pull it off, and if the cast would be a good choice. Since he basically choose actors that had not had a lot of exposure to the public, I was really happy with all the actor's performance in the movie. Great casting, story, and special effect's and I am really looking forward to the new 2013 Star Trek in May!
Fun movie
I personally love dystopian stories so this was a fun movie for me. I found this to be an entertaining action/sci-fi, but one that I wish had more depth to the story and characters. If it would've kept the action but had a much more involving story then it would've been much better. Still, it's one of the better Michael Bay films.
Let down
I was so looking forward to seeing this. Sadly the thought of what this movie might be like was far better than sitting through it. I just felt let down by the entire movie. It looked great in places and the sound was incredible. Everything else was just bland and dull. And the ending was stupid.
Decent
I mostly enjoyed this first Transformers film. The plot was decent enough to justify all the robot fights, the CGI-robots weren't too bad, Optimus and Megatron were pretty good. The fights were solid. The human actors were average. Overall a good popcorn flick. Avoid the sequels.
Brilliant
I cannot explain or fully comprehend Primer, but I do consider it absolutely brilliant and will throw the word "masterpiece" out into the fray as well. This film is fantastically realized, particularly given the budget limitations, miniscule shooting crew, and overtaxed role taken on by first-time director, producer, actor, and editor Shane Carruth. The camera movement and photography is of a very high quality, the acting is completely serviceable, and the story itself is wonderfully complex and convoluted.
Better than expected
I was pleasantly surprised at how engaging and well written the storyline was. I was not rolling on the floor laughing, but I was interested in what was going on. This movie was so much better than the second. I can't think of a single complaint. I hope they don't make another one because this would be a beautiful end to the franchise.
Boring and stupid
Very nice visuals but extremely boring and stupid. But what can we really expect from a film that was literally created from a board game? Not much and in that respect the films delivers. It's not to say that there wasn't some good moment and the effects overall were well done (except when it came to the actual aliens). The storyline was weak, leaving portions of the film either feeling ridiculous or just lacking much sense.
Star Trek re-imagined
Even though I never really was a big Star Trek fan, I really enjoyed watching this movie. You need no previous knowlage of Star Trek to enjoy this movie. JJ Abrams does the near impossible, making everyone love Star Trek. Genius rebooting to the 21st century, there is no shame in taking the good bits of Star Wars to make it exciting, plus the humor nails it.
Was expecting more
I was impressed with the visuals. It was a really beautiful film to look at. But at the time I just thought the story was average. For a film that got great reviews and had the biggest budget and biggest box office take ever I was expecting much more. Cameron seems preoccupied with his toys and everything here is too much, too showy, and too long.
A truly fantastic end to a brilliant series
This film blows me away every time I see it. Serenity does everything right. It takes all that was good about 'Firefly' and turns it up. I love the concept, I love the universe, I love the characters, I love the writing. It's a non-stop, action packed two hours that put to shame near on all other sci-fi films of recent years. Joss Whedon truly shows that he's a great filmmaker.
